Community, Craic, and Country Roads: The Dave Fogarty 4 Mile Returns to Thurles this Tomorrow Evening

This Thursday 19th June, runners and walkers alike will take to the roads of Thurles for the Dave Fogarty Memorial 4 Mile, an event that brings together community, competition, and heartfelt remembrance.
Hosted by Thurles Crokes AC, the race starts at 8:00 PM, with a walk option at 7:30 PM, offering something for all levels. Entry is available online through Eventmaster here or on the evening, with number pick-up from 6:00 PM at the Thurles Crokes clubhouse (Eircode: E41 F1W2).
The race is held in memory of Dave Fogarty, a man who played a vital role in the development of Thurles Crokes AC over the years.
As organiser Paul Dolan explains: “The race itself is in memory of Dave Fogarty, who was a man heavily involved in the club for years. He helped to get it up and running, from coaching to running the committee.”
His legacy continues to inspire at the club and this Thursday, his name leads them out once more.
The course offers a genuine mix of country lanes, gentle rolling hills, and sweeping views that may surprise those expecting a flat slog. The start line is about 600 metres from the clubhouse, located at the top of Leugh Road on Jimmy Doyle Road.
Runners will wind their way around the outskirts of Thurles, passing Killinan graveyard before turning onto Racecourse Road. From there, it's a final push past the Racecourse and towards the finish line just outside the clubhouse.
The Dave Fogarty 4 Mile is everything a club race should be: friendly, meaningful, and well worth the Thursday evening outing.
