Outdoor Action Continues For Irish Athletes Across The U.S. Collegiate Circuit
The U.S. collegiate outdoor season rolls straight on into another packed few days, with Irish athletes once again spread across the country from California to New Jersey and beyond.
This week brings a slightly different rhythm, with results already on the board from midweek competition before attention turns to a busy weekend schedule.
Here’s how things are shaping up.
South Atlantic Conference Championships (NCAA Division II)
Food City Sports Complex, Emory, Virginia | Wednesday April 29th – Thursday April 30th
There’s already been Irish involvement in championship action, with Catawba College’s Emer McGlynn progressing through rounds in the women’s 1500m.
McGlynn clocked 4:44.19 in the prelims to secure qualification before returning to finish 4th in the final in 4:48.07.

Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational
University of Houston Track & Field Complex, Houston, Texas | Thursday April 30th
It was a standout evening in Houston for University of Houston sprinter Sean Aigboboh, who delivered what surely will be the performance of the week.
Aigboboh placed 2nd in the 100m in 10.55 before producing a huge run in the 200m, winning in 20.27 to set a new personal best and Irish national record. He also featured in relay action for Houston in the 4x100m.

Eccles Coliseum, Cedar City, Utah | Thursday April 30th
Southern Utah University’s Andrew Cooper was among the Irish in action in the field, finishing 2nd in the shot put with a best effort of 15.64 metres.

Texas Invitational
Mike A. Myers Stadium, Austin, Texas | Thursday April 30th – Friday May 1st
There has already been plenty of Irish involvement in Austin, with more to come this evening.
Rhasidat Adeleke opened her campaign with a controlled 22.86 in the 200m heats, going on to finish 4th overall. She returns later tonight for the 100m.
Dundrum South Dublin AC athlete Kate Doherty clocked 59.57 to finish 4th in the 400m hurdles, and she doubles back for the flat 400m this evening.
On home turf, the University of Texas’ Conor Kelly is set for the 400m tonight too.

Indiana Wesleyan Track Complex, Marion, Indiana | Friday May 1st
A busy programme awaits Goshen College athletes, with Liam Shaw entered across the throws in the shot put, discus, and hammer.
Meanwhile, his teammate Evan O’Toole takes on a full slate of jumps, competing in the long jump, high jump, and triple jump.

Cobb Track & Angell Field, Stanford, California | Friday May 1st
One of the premier distance meets in the U.S., the Payton Jordan Invitational sees St. Mary’s College California athlete Oisín Spillane line up in the 1500m.
Providence College’s James Dunne steps up over 5000m in what is typically a fast-paced, high-quality field.

Jaguar Track, Mobile, Alabama | Friday May 1st
University of Louisiana Lafayette athlete Nelvin Appiah is set for action in the 400m hurdles.

There’s a strong Irish spread in Princeton, beginning with University of Pennsylvania athlete David Davitt in both the 400m and the 4x400m relay.
Cornell University’s Finn Boyle lines up in the 800m, while Iona University’s Sean Lawton takes on the 5000m.
In the women’s distance events, Stony Brook University athlete Grace Weigele competes over 5000m.
Villanova University’s Jack Fenlon is entered in the 1500m.

University of Oregon athlete Maddie Mooney doubles up over 800m and 1500m, while University of Portland’s Mark Milner also lines up in the 800m.

University of Illinois high jumper Siún Quinn returns to competition alongside her teammate Elizabeth Ndudi, who competes in the long jump.
Bradley University’s Eimear McCarroll has a demanding schedule, taking on both the 1500m and the 3000m steeplechase.

Rice University athlete Susie Nestor lines up in both the 800m and 1500m across the weekend.

Montreat College’s Nathan Cremin lines up in the 1500m, with his teammate Heather Murphy stepping up over 5000m.
Boston College athlete Claire Crowley also takes on the 1500m, while Harvard University’s Daire Mahon competes in the high jump.
