Revealed: The Qualifying Standards & Routes To Beijing 2027 For Irish Athletes

The qualification system and entry standards for the 2027 World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 have officially been released by World Athletics, with the championships set to take place in Beijing, China in September 2027.

World Athletics will continue using its hybrid qualification model, split approximately 40% through automatic Entry Standards and 60% through World Rankings. However, the rules of engagement are tightening, making standard-chasing a bit tougher for this upcoming cycle.

One of the biggest talking points is the introduction of qualification through the new World Athletics Ultimate Championship 2026, with winners in each event receiving automatic qualification for Beijing 2027.
