Over the past two weekends of NCAA conference championship action, Irish athletes produced one of the strongest collective displays of the American collegiate outdoor season. Conference titles were secured across sprinting, middle distance, long distance, relays, and multi events, with Irish athletes combining for multiple individual gold medals, relay victories, and podium finishes across the United States. 

Below, you can watch almost every available conference title winning performance from a remarkable spell of Irish success on the NCAA circuit, with only Big East decathlon champion Diarmuid O’Connor missing due to the event not being included in the broadcast coverage.

Fagan Leads Irish One-Two Dixon Powers To Big East 5000m Victoryn MAAC 10000m

Scott Fagan (Iona University) produced a controlled run to claim the MAAC men’s 10000m title in Maryland, leading home fellow Irish athlete Seán Lawton in an Irish one-two finish.

O’Neill Delivers Big East 800m Gold

Maeve O’Neill (Providence College) timed her race superbly to capture the women’s 800m title at the Big East Championships, winning in 2:02.05.

 

Gardiner Continues Stunning Outdoor Season

Fresh off earlier victories this outdoor season, Anna Gardiner (Providence College) added another major win by taking the Big East women’s 5000m crown in 16:50.43.

 

Dixon Powers To Big East 5000m Victory

Cormac Dixon (Providence College) delivered another major result for the Irish contingent in Storrs, claiming the men’s 5000m title in 13:48.17.

 

Roy Blazes To WAC Sprint Gold

Lauren Roy (Tarleton State University) stormed to victory in the women’s 100m final in a wind assisted 11.03 that would otherwise have threatened the Irish record books.

 

Roy Completes Brilliant Sprint Double

Less than an hour after winning the women’s 100m, Roy returned to dominate the women’s 200m final in 22.79 and complete a remarkable WAC sprint double.

 

Lyons Times It Perfectly For Patriot League Title

Liam Lyons (College of the Holy Cross) produced a composed championship performance to win the Patriot League men’s 1500m title in 3:40.76.

Irish athletes Maeve O’Neill, Cara Laverty, and Gemma Galvin played key roles as Providence College captured the women’s 4x800m relay title in 8:30.37 at the Big East Championships

 

With conference championship season now complete, attention quickly shifts toward the NCAA Regional Championships, which begin Friday week and will determine qualification for the NCAA Championships in June. For many Irish athletes, the hard work of the outdoor season now enters its most important stretch, with national qualification, All-American honours, and potentially even NCAA titles all still on the line over the coming weeks.
