Last night, the Castlepollard 5k, organised by North Westmeath AC, unfolded with great success, drawing near 300 runners to the town. The event, known for its fast course, saw 296 participants lace up their runners and hit the roads.

Run Republic spoke to Niamh, Chairperson of North Westmeath AC, and she expressed her delight at the event's success. "It went fantastically well! We had 296 participants in the end," she shared enthusiastically, highlighting the strong turnout for the popular event.

The men's race was a closely watched affair, with Sean Doran of Clonliffe Harriers AC emerging victorious. Doran crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 15:40, showcasing his elite running prowess. In the women’s category, Claire Fagan of Mullingar Harriers AC stole the spotlight, clocking in at a remarkable 17:17.

The evening’s weather was kind, with dry and windy conditions. Participants were not only treated to a high quality 5k, but also took home a unique memento—a bespoke Tullynally Castle medal, symbolising both the race and the rich heritage of the area.

The Castlepollard 5k not only celebrated a fantastic turnout but also showcased exceptional talent with standout performances by Sean Doran and Claire Fagan. Their victories, along with the enthusiasm of nearly 300 participants, underscored the event's growing popularity as a must-attend race in the region.
