A race with heart, a course with views, and a cause worth running for. Abi’s Butterfly Breeze is back on Sunday 14 September, starting from Portaferry GAC at 1pm, bringing runners and walkers together for a coastal run that’s about more than just the finish line. The 5K is £18 and the 10K is £21, fantastic value for a chip-timed race with a bespoke medal. Entries are open here
Two Distances, One Purpose
Participants can choose between the 10K or 5K route, both chip-timed and with bespoke finisher medals. Running vests are available to order August 29th, and the event prides itself on welcoming all abilities, from club runners chasing times to families enjoying a day out together.

While the adults run, children can enjoy a supervised sports funday with wristbands for just £5, giving access to activities from arts and crafts to ring toss, camogie and hurling shots, plus their own 1K race with a goody bag at the finish.
A Day Out in Portaferry
All in all it’s a community day out. Post-race, the hall will be buzzing with refreshments from local sponsors, a well-stocked raffle, and live music from Bangor Ukes. There’s even a bar for those making a full afternoon of it.
Cathy says the event “gets bigger and better every year and is always talked about, as it’s a full day out for all the family and all capabilities.”
