With a fast course, a deep history, and a medal that’s turning heads, the Laganside 10K is set to bring serious energy back to Ormeau Park on September 7th this year.

Organised by North Belfast Harriers, the event has become a firm favourite on the local calendar over the last 17 years. It’s a two-lap loop that combines the best of Belfast: green space, river views, historic bridges, and that trademark race-day buzz.

And if you’re still hesitating? Don’t. There are fewer than 300 places left, and the momentum is picking up. This is shaping up to be the biggest and best Laganside yet.

From Star Power to Club Power

The Laganside 10K has a fascinating history. In 2018, none other than Paula Radcliffe ran the race, clocking 42:35 on a tour of the course. That same day, Dame Kelly Holmes got things going by starting the junior mile.

Since then, the event has gone from strength to strength, and 2025 sees a big push on sustainability, participation, and a little touch of legacy-building with a three-year medal series that’s sure to get collectors buzzing.

The Course

Flat and fast. No massive hills. Great for first-timers and PB hunters alike.

The route starts and finishes in Ormeau Park, looping out past Ravenhill Road, Albert Bridge, along the Lagan towpath, and across Ormeau Bridge. On the second lap, runners re-enter the park via the Ozone car park, finishing back near the start. Easy to follow, well-marshalled, and right in the heart of Belfast.

Medals, Prizes & Surprises

This year marks the launch of a brand-new three-year medal series designed by Australian firm Badged & Medals, featuring iconic Belfast landmarks. It’s a challenge to runners: collect all three across 2025, 2026, and 2027.

They’re not just pretty, either! They’re 100% recycled, and for every medal awarded, two plastic bottles are removed from the ocean. A small step, but a meaningful one.

There are prizes for the top three finishers, plus age-group prizes, and a club participation challenge, the club with the most entrants wins free entries for next year.

And that’s not all:

  • Free post-race sports massages from Cryo Fitness
  • Post-race refreshments and treats
  • A second online nutrition talk by Smart Nutrition
  • And some race-day surprises still under wraps
