The H91 Business of Truth Is Back With Brutal Honesty & Burgers

The H91 Business of Truth Is Back With Brutal Honesty & Burgers

On Saturday July 12th, Galway’s runners are invited to take a long, hard look in the mirror, or at least at the stopwatch, at the H91 Business of Truth 5k. Now in its fifth year, this fast and funny evening race promises honest effort, good craic, and a burger at the finish line, all fantastic value at €20. Entry is open here.

Face the Truth (Then Have a Pint)
This isn’t your typical charity trot. The name says it all, “Business of Truth”, a nod to the brutal honesty of a 5k. There’s nowhere to hide over five kilometres. The course is fast, the feedback is instant, and the result? Well, the clock won’t sugar coat it.

The “H91” gives a shout to Galway’s city postcode, and the whole thing is stitched into the local scene , serious club runners up front, fun runners in the mix, and everyone welcome.

Flat Course, Big Craic
Based out of the Trappers Inn in Castlegar, the route is a straightforward, flat loop designed for PBs or at least minimal suffering. But it’s the atmosphere that makes it, a summer evening buzz with familiar faces, club colours, and the scent of burgers drifting towards the finish.

Every runner gets a free burger and a drink after they cross the line. With a celebratory pint (or a soft drink), the post-race gathering has become a highlight, more BBQ than big race expo.

A Race With Purpose
And it isn't all about just chasing times. Proceeds from the event go to GOAL Global, supporting humanitarian work abroad, and to Merlin College in Doughiska, funding improvements to their athletics facilities. Last year’s race helped build a new long jump pit, this year’s goal is to keep that progress going for local children.

Organised by Runners, for Runners 👟
Tribal Running, led by local coach Sean McDermott. If you’ve done any of their races before, you’ll know what to expect, well run, good humoured, and packed with local spirit. It’s an Athletics Ireland-sanctioned event, but not one that takes itself too seriously.
