Last Chance to Buy a Dublin Marathon Entry Tomorrow - Here's What You Need to Know

So. You missed out on the lottery. Prayed one of your lucky mates who got an entry might drop out. No joy though. And now, here you are, standing at the edge of panic, trying to manifest a miracle.

Good news: your miracle is scheduled for 12 noon tomorrow, Sunday 21st July.
Bad news: so is everyone else’s.

Yes, it’s that time again. A glorious, sweaty Hunger Games where the prize isn’t food, shelter, or Jennifer Lawrence, but something even more precious: a spare Dublin Marathon number.

Where Are These Numbers Coming From?

Remember that lovely refund window between 3rd and 16th July? That was the time when broken ankles, conflicting weddings, surprise pregnancies, and cold feet all filtered themselves out of the marathon start list. The result? A mystery pile of numbers, now being resold by Dublin Marathon on a first come, first served basis.

No, they haven’t said how many. Could be 500. Could be 17. Could be one lad from Rathmines whose mate dropped out and didn’t fancy running alone.

What we do know is that they'll be available on www.irishlifedublinmarathon.ie  from 12 noon sharp, and they’ll be gone faster than you can say “taper tantrum”.

Who Is This For?

  • People who missed the original registration window because they “weren’t sure yet”
  • People who meant to enter but were distracted by Eurovision
  • People who swore they’d never do it again, but then saw a friend’s medal on Instagram and immediately cracked
  • People who hate themselves and enjoy 16-week training plans in Irish drizzle

Basically, it’s your last shot at toeing the line on Sunday 27th October, with 25,000 other lunatics and a couple of lads in Viking helmets.

What You Need to Do

  1. Set a reminder for 11:55am tomorrow.
  2. Have your bank card handy. Don't be fumbling for Revolut passwords while everyone else is checking out.
  3. Pray.
  4. Refresh. Aggressively.

If you manage to snag one, congratulations, you’ve bought yourself several weeks of Sunday long runs, dodgy hamstring niggles, and early nights while your friends are in beer gardens. Enjoy.

If you don’t… well… there’s always next year. Or the Cork one. Or you could just tell people you “pulled out late due to injury” and no one will ask questions. Classic bluff.

TL;DR

  • Dublin Marathon resale entries go live tomorrow (Sunday 21st July) at 12:00pm on www.irishlifedublinmarathon.ie
  • First come, first served
  • Numbers are from refunded places, no idea how many
  • This is your last chance unless someone gives birth on the start line and you happen to be nearby with your runners on

Set the alarm. Flex those fingers. And may the Wi-Fi gods be ever in your favour.
