EYOF Skopje Day 5: Ireland’s McHugh, Burke & Williams in Finals Action

Day Five of athletics at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje opens with medal chances right from the gun.
First on the track is Ellis McHugh, lining up in the girls’ 400m hurdles final at 9:00am, after an impressive heat win on Tuesday. Just half an hour later, Joe Burke – fresh from finishing second in yesterday’s semi-final, goes in the boys’ 200m final at 9:30am, chasing a place on the podium.
The evening session shifts has action and both the track and field, where the Girls Medley takes place and rising hammer talent Thomas Williams enters the circle for the boys’ hammer throw final at 5:35pm.
All three are straight finals, giving Team Ireland three genuine shots at adding to their EYOF medal tally.
