Athletics Ireland has announced the Irish that for the European Athletics U20 Championships to be held in Tampere, Finland. The Championships will run from the 7th to 10th of August and feature Irish athletes across both track and field events. The selection includes four relay teams: Men's 4x400m and 4x100m and a ladies 4x400m and 4x100m.
Medalists from last year's European u18 Championships feature and will be hoping to make another positive impression. Conor Kelly (Finn Valley) goes in the 400m and 4x400m, Seamus Clarke (Moy Valley AC) competes in the racewalking while Cian Campton (Edenderry AC) takes part in the Discus. Cormac Dixon (Tallaght AC) hopes to make an impression in the 3,000m and 5,000m. The National u20 1,500m champion has been running well all year while on scholarship at Providence.
Included in the 4x400m relay team is Ireland's EYOF bronze medalist Erin Friel (Letterkenny AC) while Ben Skyles (Orangegrove AC) who medalled in the 100m joins the u20 4x100m relay.
