Live Athletics Saturday: Euro U20s, National Champions in Belgium & More

It’s another jam-packed Saturday for Irish athletics fans, with action coming thick and fast from all corners of the track and field map. Day three of the European U20 Championships in Finland takes centre stage, where several up and coming Irish athletes have genuine medal chances and a point to prove on the continental stage. Back home, the Northern Ireland Track and Field Championships in Belfast will see some top talent suchas Kate O'Connor battle it out for national honours, while abroad Irish athletes are in action in Belgium, Manchester, and even as far afield as Poland, where Cathal Doyle is set to line out in the 1,000m. Please note for smaller meets these are provisional start lists, athletes can withdraw for a variety of reasons.

IFAM Oordegem 

Today’s IFAM Oordegem is stacked with Irish champions fresh from last weekend’s Nationals. Laura Nicholson (women’s 1500m), Alex O’Neill (women’s 800m), Mark English (men’s 800m), Sophie Becker (women’s 400m), and Ciara Neville (women’s 100m) all feature on the start lists. Add in European 10,000m champion Efrem Gidey and Euro U23 silver medalist Nick Griggs, plus a raft of other big names, and it’s set to be a cracking day’s racing, assuming, of course, they all actually toe the line.
