Frank Gooney Remembered:
Moycarkey Coolcroo AC were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Frank Gooney, Ballytarsna, RIP. Frank was a fine runner & committee member with Moycarkey AC during their successful period in the late 60s and early 70s contributing to many of the team titles that were won during that period including as 3rd scorer on the 1968 team the Won Gold in the County Junior Cross Country and as part of the Intermediate County Cross Country winning team in 1969 on home ground in the Horse and Jockey alongside his brothers Mick & Bill and club-mates Willie Bowe, Billy Ryan & Gerry Bowe. He is also fondly remembered in GAA circles as coach who was a patient trainer who led by example in a kind manner, Sincere Sympathies to Frank's Family, Neighbors & Friends, You have fought the good fight you have finished the race, Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam dilís.
National League T&F:
Well done to Matthew Ryan and Seàn Mockler who represented Tipperary at the National Track & Field League in Tullamore on Sunday July 6th. In the Men's 1500m Matthew ran a good race in 6th place in a time of 4:21.10 , Seán was in action in the Hammer Throw coming away with a victory in 64.00m, he also competed in the Men's Discus placing 4th with a throw of 32.18m, Both athletes added points for Tipperary helping the team place 7th County in Ireland overall, Well done Matthew & Seán.
Juvenile Training Update:
Juvenile Training is currently on a break for the Summer holidays but we encourage everyone to keep up their exercise by getting outdoors regularly with sunscreen protection and hat etc if warm, whether walking the dog or going for a cycle or running a couple of laps of a local pitch etc. It's also important to keep hydrated if you can get into the habit of drinking a glass of water immediately upon waking in the morning it can be of great benefit. There may be some Open Juvenile competitions around neighboring clubs & counties so keep on the look out it might be of interest, Fanahan McSweeney AC on the Tipp - Cork - Waterford border have an open event this Friday July 18th starting @ 7pm with running events from U6s to U14s in Araglen Eircode: P61 EC59.
Fit 4 Life:
There was no training on July 7th but we are back now and Continue each Monday at 7:15pm to 8pm at our club grounds in Littleton, E41 X8K3 , whether you are just starting out or looking to train amongst a group all levels catered for. All welcome to come and see €2 per session.
