The Co. Senior  men’s 10k race was over a flat fast  course,  Dylan McLoughlin was our lone competitor and produced a magnificent performance to finish 5th in his first Co. Senior Road Championship in Dundrum on Sunday.. Running confidently the two lap course suited him well he maintained his position amongst the leading group of athletes and ran the last 1k in 3m.13s in a new 10k PB time of 35m.01s taking a massive 3m 20s off his previous best of 38m.21s.  Congratulations Dylan, 34m. mark is well within the radar over next couple of outings.

Six ladies  represented the green and gold and all did exceptionally well in the warm conditions. Hope of success was certainly in the air as our senior ladies commenced their 5k race and the green and gold singlets were very much to the fore right from the start. With eventual winner Dymphna Ryan, Dundrum taking hold of the race from the gun, it was very much in anyone else’s hands who took the minor places. Sharon Cantwell, Louise Fogarty, Orla Healy and Eileen McCullagh  made up the chasing pack.  Sharon broke clear of the group but clubmate Louise Fogarty closed the gap and overtook  Sharon in the closing stages, she then drew clear and maintained her pace to take the runner-up position and county silver in a time of 18m.27s 18s ahead of  Sharon who held on  for third in 18m.45s. A sprint finish ensued between Eileen, Orla and Michelle with Orla taking the fifth spot in 19.04 and Eileen sixth in 19.08. Back in the field Lisa Quinlan and Caroline Fogarty were striding it out and keeping in close contact with the rest with Lisa eventually crossing the line in thirteenth place in 21.30 and Caroline in nineteenth place in a new pb for her of 22.50. On a score of ten points Louise, Sharon and Orla won the team title and brought back the cup to Moyne AC for only the second time since the formation of the AAI. Eileen, Lisa and Caroline made up our second club team and with a two-point advantage over Dundrum - 38pts to 40pts – they won the “B section. What a great return from the girls. County Senior Club Champions, Munster Senior Club Champions, Munster Novice Club Champions, National 5-mile bronze team medallists, Munster Novice Individual Title, County Novice & Intermediate Individual Titles amongst some of the accolades from this group of athletes.
