Moyne Athletic Club Notes-July 29th

County 10 Mile Road Championships
What a great day it turned out to be for our senior ladies, Louise Fogarty, Sharon Cantwell and Eileen McCullagh, as their talent shone through at the County 10 mile road championships held in Fethard on Sunday.
With the ladies and men competing together over the classic distance and in a huge field of eighty nine athletes, the ladies were very much to the fore with all three finishing in the top 25 and within seconds of each other.
Even better was that all three won individual medals with Louise finishing second senior lady in 66.05, Sharon third senior lady in 66.29 and Eileen fourth senior lady and capturing the ladies O40 title in 66.37.
Pakie Bowe has been our most loyal club athlete throughout the year and Sunday was no exception as he togged out in the men’s event and had a very strong run to finish 31st in the race in 69.50 and fourth overall in his age category.
Congratulations to all four athletes on their performances, keeping the green and gold singlet in the limelight.
This brings down the curtain on the road championships and all training will now focus on the forthcoming cross country season which commences with the club hosting our open cross country event for juvenile and senior athletes on September 21st, by kind permission of both landowners.
Kilkee 10K
Congratulations to Aisling Maher and Teresa Everard who represented the club at the Kilkee 10K on Saturday, finishing in 50.20 and 68.45 respectively in what was a very warm but windy day.
