This July marks a landmark occasion for one of Ireland’s longest-running community road races. On Wednesday, 2nd July at 8:00pm, Dundrum Athletic Club will host the 40th edition of the Coillte 10K Road Race, continuing a tradition that began in 1986 as part of a local summer festival.
What began as a small-town event has grown into a nationally respected race, famous for its fast course, community hospitality, and record-breaking performances. Over the last four decades, the race has seen four national records, an expanding participant base, and a string of top-tier Irish athletes lining out.
A Sponsor Rooted in the Community
Dundrum AC is once again proud to welcome Coillte as title sponsor. Their long-standing support—dating back to the company’s foundation in 1988—has been instrumental in the race’s success.
“Dundrum is surrounded by trails and forests developed by Coillte. It’s fitting to have them involved in promoting health and wellbeing through sport,” said the club.
With thousands enjoying Coillte-managed walking and running routes throughout Ireland, their continued support ties this race into the fabric of outdoor life in the country.
Race HQ & Route
The event is based at the Dundrum Community Hall Complex (E34 EY28). The 10K follows a two-lap loop, known for being flat, fast, and spectator-friendly. One section in the village even allows spectators to cheer on runners at four points in the race with minimal movement.
A Junior 5K race is also included for athletes aged 13–19 (as of 31/12/2025), creating an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates runners of all ages and abilities.
