UCC Sports Star Award '24 '25 for Tipperary Sprinter Katie Bergin

UCC Student and Tipperary athlete Katie Bergin received the UCC Athletics Individual Sports Star Award for the year '24 '25. True recognition for her outstanding performances at National Senior Indoor Championships by winning the 200m in a new PB of 24.03sec. taking Katie to second on the Athletics Ireland Indoor 200m ranking lists for 2025, and taking second at Intervarsities Indoor Championships in the colours of UCC ten days earlier.
The 40th UCC Sports Star Awards celebrated the magnificent achievements of athletes and coaches at a function in the River Lee Hotel, Cork. during the week. The UCC Sports Performance is tailored to support the students in their academic and athletic careers. Katie is in the final weeks of completing her second year Physical Education (PE) and History studies in UCC, before embarking on a warm weather training camp in Tenerife.
Eleven athletes across across a variety of sports received awards, Katie being the only athlete to receive one.
