The 2025 European Athletics Team Championships Second Division is fast approaching, and Ireland will be looking to build on the momentum from their dominant Division 3 victory in Poland two years ago. That success in 2023 earned them a deserved promotion, but this year brings a step up in class and with it, a new set of challenges.
The Championships take place on June 28–29 in Maribor, Slovenia, where Ireland will go head-to-head with the likes of Belgium, Turkey, Romania, Norway and Cyprus across two days of track and field action. The top three teams from Division 2 will secure promotion to the top tier for 2027.
Athletics Ireland have now confirmed the team that will fly the flag in Slovenia, with strong representation across all disciplines and several familiar faces from recent international outings.

With a well-rounded squad that combines emerging talent with seasoned performers, Ireland will be aiming for consistency across the board.
Ireland will be hoping for another weekend like Silesia in 2023, but with tougher opposition and higher stakes, every point will matter. There’s genuine optimism within the camp that this team can not only hold their own in Division 2 but push the envelope against bigger nations.
