There is just a handful of Irish athletes in action across the Mediterranean and the United States today. Irish interest comes from the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia, while across the Atlantic Peter Lynch begins his season at the New York City Half Marathon.

Kicking off the Irish interest today is US based Peter Lynch, who begins his 2026 campaign this weekend at the New York City Half Marathon. The Irish distance runner will take on the streets of New York in one of the most competitive half marathons on the international calendar as he opens his season in the United States.

🇨🇾 European Throwing Cup
Nicosia, Cyprus
Following Nicola Tuthill’s excellent silver medal performance yesterday, Irish interest continues at the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia today with three more athletes in action.
First up in the afternoon session is Niamh Fogarty in the women’s discus. The Galway thrower arrives in strong form and will be looking to build on a consistent run of performances on the international circuit.
Olympian Eric Favors, the reigning national champion, will compete in the men’s shot put, while Conor Cusack rounds out the Irish contingent in action today as he lines up in the men’s javelin.
All three will be aiming to continue Ireland’s strong showing in Cyprus following Tuthill’s podium finish on Saturday. Below are there starting times:
