HER Outdoors Week kicks off today and runs until August 18th, 2024, promising an inspiring week dedicated to women embracing the great outdoors. This initiative aims to shine a spotlight on the myriad opportunities available for women to engage in outdoor activities, creating a greater appreciation and participation in these invigorating experiences.
HER Outdoors Week is all about creating opportunities for women of all ages and backgrounds to immerse themselves in nature and explore new physical activities. With a small island like ours boasting an abundance of natural beauty and diverse outdoor pursuits, it’s the perfect time to celebrate and take full advantage of these experiences and opportunities.
One of the standout features of this year’s HER Outdoors Week is the collaboration between IMRA West, Local Sports Partnerships, and Sport Ireland to host a series of Welcome to Trail Running events specifically for women. These events are designed to be inclusive and accessible, catering to both beginners and seasoned trail runners. It’s a wonderful opportunity for participants to delve into the world of trail running, meet new faces, and share valuable tips and insights along the way.
Tonight marks the beginning of these trail running events with a scenic run in Galway. Running between Cappagh Park and the stunning Barna Woods, this event is set to showcase the beauty of trail running and offer a welcoming environment for newcomers to the sport. Following the Galway run, the events will continue their journey to Roscommon, Sligo, and Mayo, providing ample opportunities for women across the region to get involved and experience the thrill of trail running.
As HER Outdoors Week unfolds, it’s clear that the week is not just about outdoor activities but about building a supportive community where women can connect, share experiences, and encourage each other.
With our Olympic heroes arriving home to a deserving welcome in Dublin today, the women of Team Ireland have inspired women of all ages to pursue their dreams and push themselves. With HER Outdoors week just beginning, the echoes of Team Ireland's inspirational women will spur on the women of the country to get outdoors and hit the trails!
Stay tuned to Run Republic for updates throughout the week about this great initiative.
