Racing Ahead: Letterkenny AC's Road to Success and Community Fitness

Letterkenny Athletic Club (LAC) members were out in numbers to compete in the Ballyshannon 5km road race and club athletes claimed both first and second place in challenging heat.

First to cross the line and win the race was Danny Mooney in a fantastic time of 14:56 followed by fellow LAC athlete Ciaran Doherty in 15.48 thereby securing second place.

Dessie Shiels ran 17:44, Callum Keaveney ran 18:49, Fintan Smith ran 18:53 earning a personal best, Ciaran O’Donnell ran 20:17.

Well done to Claire Price of LAC Fit for life who along with Denise Gallagher ran the Raphoe Town FC 5km in 30.33.

Congratulations to Frank and Noreen Pinder on completing the Drumlin 10km race in Monaghan, Frank ran 51:12 while Noreen ran 01:09:30.

The Hickey, Clarke & Langan Inter Firms 5km is scheduled to take place on Tuesday the 14th May 2024 at 7.30pm from Diver’s Hyundai on Canal Road, Letterkenny.

LAC meets Tuesday at 6.30pm for an interval running session, Thursday evening for a hill run at 6pm, Saturday morning at 9.30am for a tempo run and Sunday morning at 8am for a long run.

All runs start at the Aura. All levels catered for and encouraged.

Fit 4 Life which is run by LAC in conjunction with the Donegal Sports Partnership takes place every Monday at 5.45pm on the track at the Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.

The aim of the programme is to reach out to those who wish to improve their fitness and all are most welcome any Monday they choose to attend.

Fit 4 Life is not about speed but fitness and the coaches from LAC particularly welcome newcomers.
