The Ballyskenach 5K, the fifth instalment of the Healthy Offaly 5K Race Series, achieved outstanding success over the weekend. This year's race saw a record-breaking participation, with 432 runners taking to the course, surpassing the previous best turnout of 358 runners from last year.
Held under beautiful sunshine with a light breeze, the conditions were perfect for running, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the event. After the race, participants enjoyed a selection of refreshments, adding to the celebratory spirit of the day.
In the men's category, Peter Brandon Somba from Ratoath AC emerged victorious with a remarkable time of 15:21. The women's category was won by Dymphna Ryan of Dundrum Athletic Club, who crossed the finish line in an impressive 16:48.
The prestigious Monty Franks Perpetual Trophies were awarded to Tom Lupton and Maria Maher, recognising them as the first male and female finishers from the local club.
The Ballyskenach 5K continues to grow in popularity and success, creating a healthy and active community spirit. Congratulations to all the participants and winners, and a big congrats to everyone who contributed to making this event memorable for all involved.
