GREAT LIMERICK RUN
The Great Limerick Run was held on Sunday, May 5th. This race hosts a 6 Mile, Half Marathon and Marathon. It was a lovely sunny day with quite some heat which would have been difficult to contend with over the half and full Marathon distances. We had club members compete in all three races. In the 6 Mile, which is just short of 10km we had Marian Breen 53:57, Leanne Downey 1:00:23, Sara McGlinchey 1:00:37, Niamh Hayes 1:04:12 . In the half marathon over 21km we had John Ryan 1:19:21, Tish Ryan 1:34:11, Mary Keane 1:36:13, William Keane 1:36:20, Mairead Julian 1:46:16, Pat Hayes 1:48:28, John Barry 1:52:49, Keeley Hayes 2:36:59. In the marathon over 42km we had Tom O'Connell in a new PB of 2:51:27, Gerry O'Neill 2:57:00, Darren Allison 2:59:36, new member Wayne Bargary 3:05:17. Leanne, Sara, Niamh, Mary, William, Mairead, Pat, John Barry, Gerry and Darren all ran in the BK5K on Wednesday night as well.

Our very popular BK5K race in memory of club member Brendan Kinane was held on Wednesday, May 1st on what was a lovely summer evening. We had 250 finishers. With representation from 22 athletic clubs: Dundrum AC, Mooreabbey Milers AC, Moyne AC, Moycarkey Coolcroo AC, Carrick on Suir Roadrunners, Clonmel AC, Fethard AC, Nenagh Olympic AC, DBB AC, Thurles Crokes AC, Templemore AC, West Limerick AC, Dooneen AC, Derg AC, Kilkenny City Harriers, An Bru AC, Mallow AC, Grange Fermoy AC, Midleton AC, St Finbarrs AC, Riverstick Kinsale AC, Bilboa AC. We also had people from training groups from Cahir Meet and Train and Borrisoleigh Track Attack. We had some fast times with the first 3 home breaking 16 minutes. The first 24 broke 18 minutes and first 78 broke 20 minutes.
The men's results are as follows:1st Daniel Ryan Ellis of Nenagh Olympic in 15:28, 2nd Emmet McNamara of Fethard AC 15:34, 3rd Kevin Finn of Nenagh Olympic 15:45 (Kevin is a Junior runner). The age category winners were: 040 Mark Corcoran of Nenagh Olympic 16:54, O45 Denis McCullagh of Thurles Crokes 17:52, O50 Gary Egan of An Bru AC 17:39, O55 Damien Holian of Mooreabbey Milers AC 18:19, O60 Willie O'Donoghue of Mooreabbey Milers AC 18:30, O65 Seamus Kelleher of Mallow AC 22:06, O70 Joe Gough of West Waterford AC 19:24 ( which is now pending ratification for a national O70 record!) and Junior Ben Walshe of Nenagh Olympic 16:38.
The women's results are as follows: 1st Dymphna Ryan of Dundrum AC 17:04, 2nd Louise Fogarty of Moyne AC 18:36, 3rd Breda Gaffney of Mallow AC 18:55. The age category winners were: O40 Jacinta Mulroe of Kilkenny City Harriers 19:32, O45 Catherine Fogarty of Dundrum AC 19:38, O50 Ann Marie Halpin of Clonmel AC 19:58, O55 Denise Compton of Dundrum AC 21:57, O60 Helen Breen Thompson of Deerpark 30:43 and Junior Nessa Moloney of Mooreabbey Milers AC 19:27.
The club would like to thank all the stewards, the Order of Malta, Kickhams GAA, Dwyers Steel and Dundrum Community Hall for use of facilities, John Kenrick and Niall Moran for photography, John Moore and his family for PA.
