The Dublin City Marathon has become extremely well established on the national scene here in Ireland at which Finn Valley has continued to have a good presence annually. Some 25 club members made the journey on this occasion to join 22,000 on the start line in the capital on Sunday. In addition to providing a challenge for athletes, the marathon is an opportunity for family members to travel and support, adding to the sense of occasion. 2024 was no different with all the local participants completing the course and they will no doubt be encouraged to undertake a similar challenge again whether in Dublin or in other cities across Europe.
In what was otherwise a quiet weekend, Oisín O’Gailín competed in a 5k at Colorado University, winning the event in a time of 14.13 which translates to a very encouraging opening season performance of 13.52 as the event was held at altitude. Oisín is very encouraged by this early season return and we can look forward to many good performances in the upcoming indoor events in the states from this dedicated young man.
