Galbally Glory and Templemore Triumphs: Dundrum AC Shines at Recent Events

MICHAEL CURLEY CUNNINGHAM 4 MILE

The Michael Curley Cunningham 4 Mile was held on Friday, May 10th in Galbally and hosted by Mooreabbey Milers in memory of their former club member. We had 7 athletes compete over this hilly course that has a nice downhill finish on a nice evening for racing. First home for the club was 8th Dymphna Ryan 22:54 and was 2nd Woman. Next, we had 21st Ruaidhri Devitt 25:29, 24th Michael Moore 26:35 (2nd O60), 26th Tommy Byrnes 26:59, 38th Paul Bradshaw 28:15, 42nd Mairead Julian 28:40 and 46th Emily Leahy 29:02. Well done to all.

COUNTY JUVENILE OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS 

The County Juvenile Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held on Saturday and Sunday, the 11th and 12th May in Templemore. On Saturday the U9 to U12 juveniles were in action. We had 26 who competed and we had five medal winners. Patrick Casey got us off to a good start winning Silver in the Boys U12 Hurdles. Harry Creedon in the Boys U10 had a great win to claim Gold in the 60m and also won the Silver in the Long Jump. Ellen Maher had a fine run to win the Silver in the Girls 600m. Farran Ryan won Silver in the Girls U12 Turbo Javelin and Bella Curling won Bronze. We had many other fine performances with Roisin Hayes and Croiadh O'Brien in the Girls U9 followed by Gearoid Shanahan and Tadgh O'Neill in the Boys U9. In the Boys U10 Kieran Butler, Rian O'Brien and Jack Butler did well. In the Boys U11 age group we had Ruairi O'Neill and Philip Croke. In the Girls U11 Leah Shanahan, Ciara Hayes, Shona Ryan and Poppy Flavin all competed well without getting medals. We had a fine group of 11 in the Girls U12 and those who competed but without winning medals were Penny McGuire, May Moloney, Ruby McGrath, Grace Butler, Ava Ryan, Lucy Roche, Isobel Hartnett and Alex Ryan Quirke.
On Sunday we had 16 athletes compete in the U13 to U19. We had a number of medal winners. Albert Maher won Gold in the Boys U14 1,500m and 800m. Aine O'Neill in the Girls U13 won Gold in the Javelin and Bronze in the Shot Putt. Belle Kelly in the Girls U15 won Gold in the 1,500m and Bronze in the 800m. Taylor O'Toole also had great day in the Girls U14 winning Silver in the 200m and Bronze in the 80m. Silver medals also went to Elisse Kelly in the Girls U14 Javelin, Sean Horan in the Boys U16 Javelin and 1500m and he also won a Bronze in the 800m. We had bronze medals for Laura Roche in the Girls U13 Hurdles, Molly Butler in the Girls U14 Shot Putt, Ruby Maher in the Girls U17 800m and Jack English in the Boys U16 Javelin. We had a number of athletes who competed very well but were out of the medals such as Lily Creedon, Katelyn Shanahan and Ruth O'Neill in the Girls U13. Sophie O'Toole in the Girls U14, Therese Ryan in the Girls U16 and Micheal Ryan in the Boys U13. Well done to everyone who participated over the weekend.
