The Master athletes of Killarney Valley AC kicked off 2024 with the National Indoor Master Championships in Athlone last Saturday. Between them, they brought home a total of 9 National Medals. All our Master athletes in action give back to the sport and the youth through either coaching, club admin or officiating.
Pierce O’Shea received his first National medal coming 3rd in the M35 200m. Derek Pyne came 2nd in the M45 Long Jump and 6th in the 200m. Alan Delaney came 2ndin the M40 High Jump with 1.70m jump and 3rd in the 60m sprint and 8th in the 200m. Tim Horgan came 3rd in the Weight for Distance and 4th in the High Jump with a 1.60m jump. Noel Rice was 5th in the M35 3000m. Tomas Griffin came 4th in the M50 Shot with 10.10m. Together, Pierce O’Shea, Noel Rice, Alan Delaney and Derek Pyne came 3rd in the M35 4x200m relay.
Also KVAC sprinter Sarah Leahy opened up her 2024 season with a blisteringly fast 7.38secs for 60m last Sunday in Athlone.
Not a bad start to the year.
