Gold for Anna @ National U23s:
Anna Ryan won Gold in the women's Triple Jump at the All Ireland U23 Track & Field Championships in AIT Athlone last Saturday, January 20th with a Jump of 11.82m, Anna was a bit disappointed not to get closer to her PB of 12.17m but it was a very good performance nonetheless and another National medal to add to her collection, Well done Anna.
County Masters Cross Country Result:
The Tipperary Masters & U23 XC Championships took place in Fethard last Sunday, January 21st with the kind permission of the Rice Family, The course was a combination of old-school tradition mixed with mountain running that saw runners trek through woods, alongside scenic river banks and muddy terrain it was a well-organized event congrats to Fethard AC and the Tipperary athletics board. In the Men's race which was 7km Shane Mullaney was first home for the club in 8th place overall and 2nd O/35, Kevin Shortall ran his first cross-country race since his days as a Juvenile athlete running a good race in 13th place to round off a good days running, Well done lads.
Corrin Hill Mountain Run:
On January 15th Kevin Shortall took part in the Irish Mountain Running Association race: Corrin Hill in Fermoy Co.Cork which is a 9km race with a 440-meter climb Kevin had a good run in 15th place out of 119 in a time of 52mins & 7 seconds.
Annerville Award:
This Saturday the January 27th in the Talbot Hotel Clonmel sees the Annerville Award Ceremony which recognizes The Best Athletes from across All sports in Tipperary, Sean Mockler has been selected as the Winner in the Athletics category for his achievements in 2023 Sean is back in college in Indiana in the USA and unfortunately won't be able to be there but his family will receive on his behalf Congrats to Sean and the Mockler family.
Upcoming Races:
We have several athletes including Matthew Ryan and Mossy Bracken preparing for the sold-out John Treacy 10 Mile road race which takes place in Dungarvan, Co.Waterford on February 4th. Mossy is also training for the Rotterdam Marathon which takes place on the 14th of April, Best of Luck to All with their training.
