August 27, 2024

Club Represented in Antrim Half Marathon:

5 Club members took the 350km trip up North to the Glens County to compete in the Antrim Coastal Half Marathon early last Sunday morning August 25th, A Renowned road race known for it's fast times & International high-quality field, previous winners include former Olympic champion Mo Farah & London Marathon winner & current Women's World 10k record holder Yalemzerf Yehualaw. The weather conditions for this year's race were far from ideal along with a long wait in the wind & rain at the start line but this did not deter the over 3000+ athletes. The overall Winners on the day were Ethipoia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw who won the women's race for the second time and Kenya's Nzioka Matata in the Men's race. Mossy Bracken was first home for the club in 55th place overall in a great time of 1hour 10mins & 23seconds, very good running too from Matthew Ryan in 1hr 15mins & 7 secs, with Conor Keating running strongly in 1hr 15mins & 54 secs, and sterling runs from Donie Bergin in 1hr 28mins & 30 secs & Paul Bowe 1hr 28mins & 41 secs to round off a great days work by the Coolcroo athletes.
