National Competitions and Impressive Returns for Moyne AC

National Inter Club Relays, Saturday, Tullamore

On Saturday next the club will be represented at National Inter Club Relays in the girls U/14 4x100m and the Girls U/17 4x400m. The girls U/14 team comprises of Abbie Delaney, Saoirse Joyce, Caoimhe Slevin, Isabelle Murphy, Muireann Casey, Helen Renehan and Faye Murphy. Nationals are always a fiercly contested event and records are set almost every year. Best of luck to the girls. In the U/17 girls 4x400m Moyne AC are involved for the first time in over twenty years at this level. Great credit due to the four athletes Emma Delaney, Dearbhla Gleeson, Kate Delaney and Niamh Cleere who have put in the hard hours in training over the last few months. National B Championships.

National B Track & Field Championships. Saturday

Moyne AC will also be well represented at the National B Championship next weekend by Caoimhe Slevin U/14 girls 800m, Helen Renehan girls U/14 High Jump, Saoirse Joyce girls U/13 80m, Darragh Maher boys U/12 H.J.. Maria Doyle U/15 girls Shot Putt.

National Juvenile Age 13- 19 Day 2, Juvenile Track & Field Championships, Sunday, Tullamore

Michael Doyle will represent the club in the boys U/14 2k Walk, Michael is the current Munster Champion and under the watchful eye of coach Seamie Hartigan Michael will be in with a good chance of a podium finish. Isabelle Doyle another one of our bright young stars will be in action in the girls U/14 Javelin and Discus, having performed well at Munster in both of those events this young lady has the potential to medal at National. Alana Spillane will be representing the club in the 3k, having come through Munster with flying colours and well used to competing at this level, it wont be a surprise if she arrives home with silver ware at the weekend. Alana will also compete in the 1500m the following weekend.

Morton Games, Santry. Friday 12th July

Katie Bergin made her long awaited return to the track after injury that kept her out of action for two months and missed National Seniors a couple of weeks back, she took part in the 200m in The Morton Games, a World Athletics Bronze Tour event coming in fifth in 24.54s, Chane Vermeulen, South Africa first and Kirstie Edwards, Australia second.

AI Games, Santry, Sunday

Katie was back on the Track again on Sunday in Series 1 and 2 of the 100m, running 12.14s. in a -1.7m/s wind, all is looking good.
