On a pleasant evening in Donaghadee, the annual 5K race saw an impressive turnout, with 331 runners taking their positions at the starting line on the Harbour at 19:30. The weather was cooperative, presenting good conditions for the race, with only a slight breeze to contend with on the course.
The race witnessed an exceptional performance from David Spalding of Ballydrain Harriers, a club based in Comber, Co. Down. Spalding clinched the top spot, completing the course in a remarkable 16 minutes and 17 seconds.
In the women's category, Katie Moore from North Down Athletics Club emerged victorious. Moore not only finished first among the female competitors but also set a new female course record with her time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds.
The event's organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers whose efforts were instrumental in the race's success. Their dedication and support were crucial in ensuring the smooth running of the event.
The Donaghadee 5K continues to be a highlight in the local racing calendar, celebrated for its community spirit and the enthusiastic participation of runners and volunteers alike.
