The All Ireland Senior Track & Field Indoor Championships took place in Abbotstown Co. Dublin last weekend Feb 17th & 18th.
The Sister and Brother combo of Anna and David Ryan were representing the club at the National stage. On Day 1 of the competition Anna Ryan was in contention in the Women's Triple Jump after winning Gold in the U23 Championships a month ago she was hoping to finish amongst the medals which she duly did on this occasion with a good jump of 12.10m which earned her a coveted Silver medal in the Senior ranks. Great going well done Anna.
On the same day, her brother David was in action in the Mens 400 Metres following in the footsteps of former National Champion Tomás Coman, but he had to come through the qualifying heats first which he won in a time of 48.64 which then set him up for another race later that day in the semi-final with the top 2 from each race to go through to the final. He ran another great race to finish 2nd setting a new personal best for Indoors of 48:10.
The final itself took place on Sunday and drawn in lane 3 he went for it from the start making a real go for it. It was neck and neck when the bell went for the final lap and David ran his best setting another PB of 47.99 winning the Silver medal.
A fantastic and unique achievement for both siblings to win National Silver Medals together at the same championships. Well done to both athletes.
