Tribal Running Track and Field Tour 2024: Day 1 Awaits

May 03, 2024

This weekend marks the eagerly anticipated opening of the 2024 Tribal Running Track and Field Tour, a celebration of athleticism, community spirit, and inclusivity. The tour kicks off with a bang, offering two exciting events in one action-packed day.

The festivities begin at noon with the highly anticipated third edition of the Doughiska/Roscam/Ardaun Sports Day. This is specifically designed to engage and inspire the youngest members of the community, with a variety of fun-filled activities tailored for children aged 4 and above. From the classic egg-and-spoon race to the thrilling mini hurdles, children will have a blast competing in friendly and enjoyable challenges.

Following the kids' sports day, the Tribal Running Track and Field Tour transitions into a showcase of athletic prowess for participants aged 14 and above. Athletes of all levels, from juniors to seniors and masters, are invited to compete in a range of classic track and field events. These include the high jump, long jump, shot put, 100m sprint, and 800m race. The tour emphasises that Track and Field is not just for elite-level athletes but for individuals of all abilities and ages.

One of the unique aspects of the Tribal Running Track and Field Tour is its emphasis on participation and sportsmanship. Every participant will receive a medal during the awards ceremony at the end of the day, highlighting the ethos that in this event, everyone is a winner.

This year, all proceeds from the Tribal Running Track and Field Tour will contribute to essential upgrades and maintenance of athletics facilities, including track lining and local community games costs. This initiative underscores Tribal Running's commitment to supporting and enhancing the local sporting infrastructure for the benefit of all community members.

Sean McDermott of Tribal Running expressed excitement about the upcoming event. He highlighted that the tour is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to try out various track and field events, with beginners warmly welcomed. McDermott emphasised that accredited coaches from Athletics Ireland will be on hand at each event to assist and support all participants, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Whether you're a seasoned athlete or trying out a new sport for the first time, this event welcomes you to join in the excitement and celebration of community sports.
