Conor Penney Selected for Irish Team at U18 European Championships

Conor Penney has been selected to represent Ireland at the U18 European Championships in Slovakia later this month. This prestigious selection is a testament to Conor’s exceptional talent and dedication to the sport of high jump.

Conor’s progression in high jump has been nothing short of remarkable this year. His impressive growth is a direct result of his relentless commitment and hard work. Conor's club, Craughwell AC, along with his coaches and family, are immensely proud of his achievements. This milestone is a reflection of the many years of dedication and effort that Conor has invested in the sport alongside his coaches.

Having closely followed Conor's progress throughout 2024, we at Run Republic are delighted to see him reach such a significant milestone at such a young age. Conor, who is just 15 years old and will turn 16 in September, has shown tremendous potential and promise in his athletic career thus far. 

We eagerly anticipate watching him compete in Slovakia and are confident that he will continue to make his club and family proud.

Scholarships (Part III) What The Coaches And Athletes Have To Say

An important part of the advice that we gave to you in part I of this series was to seek out athletes who have or who are attending US colleges on an athletic scholarship. In this, the third of our series of scholarship articles we bring that information to you. Victory for Kilrehill and Quinn in a Thrilling Autumn Cross-Country

The Autumn Open produced plenty of excitment in Abbotstown today with Keelin Kilrehill (Moy Valley) retaining the title he won last year. There was an impressive performance from Sean Quinn (DSD) in the u20 race as he kept pace with Kilrehill showing he is in good form and a serious contender for the Irish u20 Euro Cross team. In the ladies race Ide Nic Dhomhnaill (West Limerick A.C.) finished second to England’s Sophie Tarver with Emily Bolton (Clonliffe Harriers) winning the u20 race. Dublin City Harriers avenged their 2023 defeat in the mixed relay to take the gold with DSD finishing second. Both teams will head to the European Club Championships in Portugal in Feburary. The Juvenile Relays saw massive numbers competing with thirty five teams in the girls u11.
