This evening, Wednesday, August 21st, North Westmeath Athletic Club is set to host the ever popular Castlepollard 5K, also known as "The Tullynally Challenge." The event, known for its fast and scenic course, attracts runners from across the Midlands, Dublin, Meath, and various other surrounding counties.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Tullynally Castle & Gardens in Castlepollard, this race offers participants a unique experience. The route begins just beside McCormack's Bar in Castlepollard, leading runners out to the historic grounds of Tullynally Castle. From there, participants will follow an anti-clockwise loop before heading back towards the village, finishing just outside Castlegrove housing estate, shortly after the zebra crossing.
The race has garnered significant interest, with North Westmeath AC Chairperson Niamh telling Run Republic that over 200 participants already registered online. For those still interested in joining, there's an opportunity to sign up in person at the Castle Varagh Hotel's meeting room from 6:30 PM for a fee of €20. The race itself will kick off at 7:30 PM.
Participants can look forward to receiving a bespoke medal featuring the iconic Tullynally Castle as a memento of their achievement. With the event's growing popularity and the promise of a thrilling race, tonight's Castlepollard 5K is shaping up to be an exciting event for all involved.
Stay tuned to Run Republic as we will recap the event tomorrow! Best of luck to all involved!
