FTD Brothers Dublin Finale: Full Route, Timings And Best Support Spots

It is hard to believe that we first reported on this challenge nearly five weeks ago.

What has followed since has been one of the most extraordinary grassroots sporting stories Ireland has seen in many years.

Jordan and Cian Adams, better known as the FTD Brothers, have captured hearts right across the country through a challenge that has pushed the boundaries of what most people would consider physically or mentally possible, all while raising awareness and funds in the fight against frontotemporal dementia.

The final chapter of the FTD Brothers challenge arrives in Dublin on Thursday as Jordan Adams takes on marathon number thirty three after thirty three consecutive days of running.

Now comes the finish line.

Jordan is expected to take off from just outside the Comfort Keepers at Woodford Business Park at approximately 10:00am before winding through a huge stretch of both north and south Dublin before eventually arriving at Merrion Square Park between approximately 2:00pm and 2:30pm.

The weather forecast is also expected to be very pleasant although it may cloud over in the afternoon,so they're should be a brilliant atmosphere throughout the city as supporters gather along the route.

The Route

Beginning on the north side before winding through Ballymun, Glasnevin, Phibsborough, Phoenix Park, Kilmainham, Rathfarnham, Donnybrook, Ballsbridge and back through the heart of the city centre, the final marathon has been designed to give supporters right across Dublin an opportunity to come out and cheer Jordan and the team on.

Some sections will feel very familiar to anybody who has previously run the Dublin Marathon, particularly around Phoenix Park, Dolphin's Barn and the south city areas.

The final stretch through Grafton Street, the quays and eventually Merrion Square could produce some particularly emotional scenes as the challenge finally reaches its conclusion.

Support Guide

For anybody hoping to support along the route, we have also put together a rough timing guide below showing approximately when Jordan is expected to pass through each part of the city.

The timings are intentionally conservative and are based around roughly 5:30 per kilometre pacing to help supporters arrive early and avoid missing the route entirely. In reality, Jordan may arrive earlier or later depending on stops, crowds and how the day unfolds.

It is far better to arrive twenty minutes early than twenty seconds too late.

Garmin Live Tracker

Supporters will also be able to follow Jordan's live location throughout the day thanks to a Garmin live tracker being shared by the team. That means people can check exactly where Jordan is in real time before heading out to catch the route passing through their area.

The tracker should prove particularly useful given the scale of the route across Dublin and the fact timings may naturally fluctuate throughout the day depending on stops, crowds and pace.

Important Information For Supporters

Supporters are strongly encouraged to come out and cheer Jordan and the team on throughout the route.

However, under no circumstances should people join the run itself during the final 10 kilometres of the marathon. The closing section has been limited to 10 people by DCC and is intended to be shared with Jordan's family, close friends and the immediate team around the challenge.

People are instead encouraged to line the route, clap, cheer and create an atmosphere as the team passes through the city.

Dublin Prepares For An Emotional Finish

Tomorrow morning and adternoon is expected to be an incredibly emotional day for Jordan, Cian and everybody involved in the challenge.

After thirty three marathons in thirty three consecutive days and nearly €1.75 million raised, the final kilometres into Merrion Square are likely to produce some unforgettable scenes across the city.

Large crowds are expected throughout the afternoon, particularly around Grafton Street, the quays and Merrion Square itself. Supporters planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early where possible and to allow extra time for moving around the city centre.

Public transport is strongly recommended, especially for those hoping to catch the finish area, while supporters should also plan ahead for busy footpaths, road crossings and large gatherings throughout the closing stages of the route.

Most importantly, tomorrow  is expected to be a celebration of an extraordinary effort that has captured attention right across Ireland over the past month.

From Ballymun to Ballsbridge, Phoenix Park to Merrion Square, Dublin now gets the final chapter.
