Ciara Neville Returns To Form Ahead Of World Indoors

Ciara Neville heads to the World Indoor Championships in Toruń after producing some of the best indoor performances of her career this season.

The Emerald AC sprinter from Limerick has been a familiar figure on the Irish sprint scene for a number of years, representing Ireland at major international championships while competing primarily over the 100 metres and 60 metres.

Neville first gained international attention as a teenager when she won gold over 100 metres at the European Youth Olympic Festival, before progressing through the junior ranks and representing Ireland at European and World age group championships.

She has also been a regular member of Irish relay teams and was part of the Irish women’s 4×100m squad that set a national record of 43.73 seconds at the 2025 London Diamond League, alongside Lauren Roy, Sarah Leahy and Sarah Lavin

The 2026 indoor season has seen Neville return to strong form over 60 metres. She opened the year with a 7.32 run in Denmark, her quickest indoor time in several seasons, before improving further to 7.28 seconds in Glasgow.

Her biggest breakthrough came in Athlone where the Limerick sprinter clocked 7.26 seconds, moving to equal fourth on the Irish all time indoor list and securing the Athletics Ireland B qualifying standard for the World Indoor Championships. Her selection was confirmed during the week.

Neville followed that up by winning gold in the women’s 60 metres at the National Indoor Championships, confirming her place on the Irish team heading to Poland.

With a national title and a series of personal best performances behind her this winter, Neville arrives in Toruń looking to carry that momentum onto the international stage.
