WMTRC Day Two Recap: Irish Team Battles the 45K Short Trail

Day 2 of the World Mountain & Trail Running Championships in Canfranc, Spain brought the 45 km short trail, a brutal route with 3,657 metres of climbing. Six Irish athletes were entered, though Esther Dixon did not start.
Women’s Race
Sorcha Loughnane completed the course in 7:35:28 for 94th place among 112 finishers. Laura O’Driscoll followed in 7:50:12, taking 106th.
Men’s Race
Enda Cloake led the Irish quartet home in 5:59:17 for 93rd of 171. John Kinsella came in next at 6:09:45 (105th), followed by Luke Weldon in 6:30:23 (124th) and Gavin Byrne in 6:41:12 (132nd)
