Portumna Forest Run 2025: Running, Dance & Community Spirit Unite

On Sunday, 14 September 2025, Portumna Forest Park buzzed with excitement as the Portumna Forest Run 2025 unfolded—a joint celebration of fitness, culture, and community. Organized by Sean McDermott of Tribal Running in collaboration with the Powerforce Parents Association and the Stephanie Power School of Irish Dance, the event offered both a scenic 5 km walk/run (11:00 AM) and a challenging 10 km race (11:15 AM)

Event Highlights & Festive Atmosphere

Whether participants aimed to enjoy a leisurely stroll or strive for a competitive finish, chip timing ensured accuracy for all entrants. The race trail was dotted with refreshment stations to keep energy levels high, and a post-race social area offered delicious refreshments and vibrant cheer.

Adding flair to the day, talented students from the Stephanie Power School of Irish Dance captivated runners and onlookers with lively performances, bringing a rich cultural element to the event and emphasizing local talent and pride.

Eco-Friendly Recognition for All Ages

Sustainability and inclusivity were key themes. Eco-friendly medals were awarded to the top three finishers (male and female) in the adult 5 km and 10 km categories (ages 16 and over), as well as to the top three boys and girls in the 15-and-under 5 km race.

A Noble Cause: Supporting Young Irish Dancers

Proceeds from the event are dedicated to supporting the pupils of the Stephanie Power School of Irish Dance as they prepare to travel to Chicago in 2026. This fundraising initiative embodies the spirit of community—bringing people together to support cultural exchange, personal growth, and artistic opportunity.
